Director's Blog

Dr. Sam Martin

“I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God on my behalf” Romans 15:30

Behind the beautiful colors the situation in Haiti is far from beautiful today. There is unrest on the streets the result of Political turmoil. Hospital and Doctors are on strike. Shootings on the streets of the Capital increasing and our Director and staff are seeking to serve and to be faithful to God in a very, very difficult situation. In fact, It seems today more than ever, servants of Christ are under constant satanic pressure and attack. Daily it seems the work is getting more difficult and as I think of those who serve with AOJ, the words of Paul come to mind: ‘Galatians 6:2 to bear one another’s burdens’.

In this blog, I want to ask you to join me in prayer for our Director Mr. Wilson Maitre and our staff in Haiti. They serve in Cap Rouge, an area it would seem forgotten by the Government. There are no good roads, no water system, and no hydro. There in no real opportunity for employment. Indeed life is so difficult young adults want to move away.

Yet daily a faithful team seek to serve the children and youth of the area by providing a good Christian Education in our schools, and meeting the needs of families spiritually and materially.

Recently there was a real medical crises in the area where the Mission serves. An infection spread rapidly through the Community. People had no way of getting into Jacmel, and even if they did, they could not afford the cost of seeing a Doctor. Again AOJ rose to the occasion and ‘Calvary Clinic’ became the center of healing and hope.

Often as I talk with our Director I can sense his weariness and I picture him and the staff living and working in such difficult circumstances, and that with no complaints. Of course then it is laid on my heart to try and get beneath their burden, and that through prayer!

My friend, would you close this blog and pray for our staff in Haiti please?

Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you. 2 Thessalonians 3:1
